About Programming Librarian
Stay connected with programming resources with Programming Librarian, an online resource center for all things related to presenting cultural programs for all types and sizes of libraries. The site includes two main sections: the library and the blog.
The library is designed to help libraries with program planning. It includes topical information, such as advocacy and fundraising, as well as events and celebrations you can use to develop your programming calendar. We encourage you to comment on programs in your library in the events and celebrations section; you can share what your library is doing for National Poetry Month, for example. The library also includes information on author, discussion, and family and youth programs as well as on traveling exhibitions.
The blog provides grant announcements, short pieces on specific topics written by guest blogers, and other timely information. We welcome comments on our blog entries as well.
Development of this site is funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to the American Library Association Public Programs Office to assist librarians in finding authoritative resources for cultural programming, train librarians in cultural programming techniques using a variety of online methods and involve library schools in examining the need for courses in cultural programming. We welcome your feedback on this work in progress!
