The Grace Van Dyke Bird Library serves the students and faculty of the main and original Bakersfield College campus (there are now two other campuses- one in another part of Bakersfield and the other in a rural area of Kern County- and we are opening a 3rd in the year couple years). We are staffed by five full time librarians, three adjuncts, and a circulation staff of three. This program helps with different issues- the anxiety of students during Finals, the anxiety of students in general when it comes to approaching the library, the lack of connection between departments on campus, and re-envisioning the library for our community.
