Hialeah’s population and history are unique. 94.7% of its residents are Hispanic or Latino, 73.1% are foreign born persons and 92.8% speak a language other than English, making Hialeah one of the largest immigrant communities in Florida and the nation. Hialeah has the highest percentage of Cuban residents (73.3%) in the country, other origins include Nicaraguans (11,261), Colombians (8,039), Dominicans (4,081), and Hondurans (4,486).
