The Knoxville Public Library is located in Central Iowa, about 35 miles from the capital city Des Moines. We are considered a municipal library serving a population of 7,313. There are 8,567 registered card holders since we serve the city of Knoxville, rural Marion County, and the surrounding areas.
We are open 54 hours a week and busiest during the summer months. Our building is 7,680 sq. ft. and we are in the planning stages of an expansion project. There are three full-time librarians and 5 part-time assistants. Annual circulation is 78,506 items (print and non-print). Our annual budget is $345,145. The community is mostly agrarian with a few small manufacturing businesses. The National Sprint Car Museum is located in town and thousands of people attend the car races.
