Nicholas P. Sims Library (NPSL) is a private non-profit that operates as a public library. It has been in service to the citizens of Waxahachie, Texas since 1905. Currently, there are 3 degreed librarians on staff, one working on an MLS. There are 14 employees of the library, 7 full-time and 7 part-time. NPSL is the largest library in the county.
Waxahachie is located in Ellis County, and is the county seat. It is approximately 20 minutes south of Dallas, and 30 minutes SE of Fort Worth. Waxahachie's population is approximately 32,000 and growing quickly in recent years. The population is mostly Caucasian (57%), African-American (15%), and Hispanic (26%). Ellis County has a large population that home-schools their children, and many of these families use Sims Library as their educational resource.
