I love March — partly because green is my favorite color and, of course, on St. Patrick's Day everyone gets to wear green. I remember as a kid picking out something green to wear so I wouldn't get pinched at school. As the years went by, I would try to hide my green just to trick everyone.
Whether you love the holiday or just love green like me, have fun indulging in green galore with these St. Patrick’s Day crafts.
Gung Hay Fat Choy! Chinese New Year is a spring festival that follows the Chinese lunar calendar and traditionally falls between mid-January and mid-February each year. The celebrations usually last for two weeks and represent a fresh start, rejuvenating family love and hoping for happiness in the year to come.
About five years ago, I created a program called Haunted Library. Our Teen Advisory Group (TAG) really looked forward to this program every year. They absolutely loved planning this event, making up different themes each year and going all out from the beginning of the school year until Halloween. It was so awesome because they were fully invested.
This summer I decided to challenge myself before my teens even had the chance to say, "Mrs. Librarian Lady, I'm so bored!" I’ve already created a list with go-to crafts and activities to entertain teens all summer long. My challenge is for all you teen programming staff out there to grab your shades, slather on some sunblock and live it up this summer with your teens!
For the past few months, I have been trying to pamper myself a little more than usual. I tend to work long hours and do a lot of running around for work, so when I get home my feet are very tired. I decided to start getting pedicures at least once a month and now my feet feel great and look pretty awesome. My favorite part is picking out the color and then blingling it out with glitter!
I can't believe its June already; the last few months have really flown by fast. I always love June because all of the libraries are gearing up for summer reading. This summer, our theme is "Read to the Rhythm," and we have all kinds of fun music-related programs happening across all of the Contra Costa County Libraries.
