Harry Potter Escape Room (No. 2)

Four people pose with "Mischief Managed" sign

Roosevelt Library's escape rooms have been a new way for our library to provide fun, educational programming for our patrons, both young and old. They have even drawn people to our little library from neighboring counties and those who normally do not use the library.

Our Harry Potter Escape Room required that participants use multiple senses (sight, hearing, touch and smell) to answer a chain of clues. (See the clue chain under Attachments at right.)

Harry Potter Bingo

A pile of red and white bingo cards with some scattered bingo chips

Harry Potter-themed events for adults do really well at our library. Previously we have had Harry Potter Trivia Nights, DIY Harry Potter Crafts and a Harry Potter Escape Room.

We wanted to continue this magical tradition with a new type of program, and Harry Potter Bingo was the winner. Our goal for this program was for adults to view the library as a place to connect and engage with other community members.

Quidditch Clinic

Quidditch Clinic participants

The idea to hold a Quidditch clinic for teens arose from our local teens' excitement for any and all Harry Potter-related programming. We’ve done numerous Harry Potter-themed programs in the past (typically trivia or costumed events), but had yet to tackle Quidditch. We wanted to engage teens that might have an interest in physical activities as this event was in collaboration with our local YMCA.
