Welcome to the new (and, we think, improved) Programming Librarian!
Not to worry — beyond looks, not too much has changed. Programming Librarian, a website run by ALA’s Public Programs Office, is still here to provide you with everything you need to share, learn and be inspired to present excellent library programming for your communities.
Here are a few features we are excited to share:
- Programs: With updated search and filtering functionalities, you’ll notice that reader-submitted library programs are easier to search on our Browse Programs page.
- Programming Guides: Find this link at the top right-hand corner of the site. This is where you can access all of the free guides created by the ALA Public Programs Office to help you plan and deliver remarkable public programs on a variety of topics.
- Events Calendar: One of the most popular items on our website is our annual list of holidays, celebrations and festivals that can help you build your program offerings. This calendar can be found on our homepage and linked at the top and bottom of each webpage.
- Opportunities (i.e., grants): The Opportunities page is where you can check in to look for new programming grants and other opportunities for your library.
- Submit a Program: As always, you are welcome to submit Programs so we can continue to grow our database of exciting and relevant library programs.
- Programming Librarian Newsletter: We also encourage you to subscribe to our e-newsletter (also revamped!) to stay up to date with everything Programming Librarian.
There are bound to be a few bumps as we launch the new website, so please be patient as we find and fix them. And you can help! If you experience any issues in using the website, from broken links to missing content, please reach out to us at publicprograms@ala.org.
We hope that the redesign makes Programming Librarian an even more prominent resource in your professional life.
