Pre-Application Webinar for Between Two Worlds: Exploring Jewish Culture and Religion Through Yiddish Literature
Join us for this free webinar to learn about the application process for Between Two Worlds: Exploring Jewish Culture and Religion Through Yiddish Literature, a program of the Yiddish Book Center that will allow participating libraries to host meaningful discussions about Yiddish literature.
Between Two Worlds: Exploring Jewish Culture and Religion Through Yiddish Literature is part of the Yiddish Book Center’s Public Libraries Program. It is open to public libraries in the United States and its territories.
Forty libraries will be selected to lead conversations about religion, assimilation, identity, and immigration. Participating libraries will receive a collection of Yiddish literature in translation, reading guides to support the discussion, funding for supplementary programming, and on-site training for one reading group facilitator at the Yiddish Book Center in Massachusetts.
Learning Outcomes
In this webinar, attendees will:
- Learn about the Yiddish Book Center’s Public Libraries Program
- Learn about the application guidelines, requirements and eligibility for the grant
- Hear from previous participants in the Public Libraries Program
- Have the opportunity to ask questions of Yiddish Book Center and ALA Public Programs Office staff

Amy Waldman (she/her) is the adult reference librarian at the Good Hope Library in Milwaukee. She received her Master’s degree in Library Science (with a concentration in Information Organization) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee after working as a journalist, retail sales associate, and student services coordinator at a technical college, all of which inform her work as a public librarian. She is the author of “We Had Fun and Nobody Died: The Adventures of a Milwaukee Music Promoter,” published in 2024 by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.

Rachel Garcia (she/her) is the Adult Services Assistant Manager at Wilmette Public Library, specializing in fiction and reader's advisory. In addition to her collection work, she coordinates and leads library book discussions, and assists in the planning of community-wide reading programs.
