Methuen, MA is a small city roughly 27 miles north of Boston and sits on the New Hampshire border. The population is just above 50,000 people and the residents are 60.9% white, 29.5% Hispanic or Latino, 4.3% black or African American and 4.1% Asian. 36.1% of residents speak a language other than English at home. The library was built in 1883, and expanded in 2002 to its current 40,000 square feet. It sits right near the heart of the city, on one of the main roads.
