The San Diego Public Library’s mission is “to inspire lifelong learning through connections to knowledge and each other.” With 6.6 million visitors to our 36 locations, the library is the largest cultural institution in San Diego that offers free programming. The San Diego Public Library serves more than 1.3 million residents and encompasses an area of 342 square miles. The Pacific Beach/Taylor Branch Library is located in a coastal community where the 2010 Census showed 18.3 percent of residents aged 55+.  This population is projected to grow to 18.9 percent by 2020.
